Healing Past Wounds & Reconnecting with Your Inner Child Through Honohono

Updated: May 6

The other day, I came across a video of a rescued animal experiencing unconditional love. It touched something deep inside me—a warmth intertwined with sadness. I didn’t quite understand why, but I felt it deeply.

So, I asked myself: Why do I feel sad?

As I sat with that feeling, I was taken back to my six-year-old self—a joyful, carefree little girl surrounded by love and affection. I remember feeling safe and cared for, yet there was always a quiet longing I didn’t even realise I had. And then, I wasn’t that little girl anymore, I was 15—it was the first time I felt truely unseen, unsure of my place, the first time I felt unimportant to someone I deeply wanted to be close to. Without the tools to process it, I buried the pain, convincing myself I was fine. But in reality, I carried it for years, the pain remained, silently growing.

Unhealed wounds don’t just disappear. They wait. They show up in all our relationships, in our limited beliefs, in our fears, in the way we protect ourselves. They stay, until we are ready to release them.

That day, for the first time, I allowed myself to feel that pain instead of pushing it away. The tears that never came finally did. I cried, not just for that teenage version of me, and the rejection I faced, but for all the times I denied myself to heal. I saw the walls I built, the guarded heart, the tough exterior—all in an attempt to avoid feeling that hurt again. But the truth is, it was still there, waiting for me to be ready.

Since beginning my Honohono Healing journey, I’ve uncovered layers of myself I didn’t know existed. This medicine is more than just relieving physical pain, it’s about emotional healing. It helps us confront the parts of ourselves we’ve been avoiding, to give our inner child what they’ve always needed: love, understanding, and a voice. And allow our adult self to soften—just enough for the love we’ve longed for to finally reach us.

And through this, I’ve learned something essential: Staying Grounded is Key!

When we go through an awakening or deep healing, it can feel like the ground beneath us is shifting. Old emotions resurface. Relationships feel different. What you once loved doing, you now start to question it. We start seeing the world in a new way, and it can be overwhelming. But by staying grounded, it allows us to move through it with clarity.

Honohono Healing helps with this balance. It’s about reconnecting with your body while allowing your spirit to heal. It helps with emotional healing by addressing and empowering your wounds. It teaches us that healing doesn’t mean breaking down, it means knowing ourselves on a deeper level, and integrating what we’ve learned, so we can move forward authentically and without shame.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, disconnected, or like old wounds are resurfacing, this may be your inner self asking for healing. Devined offers Honohono Healing to help you navigate this journey with clarity and strength.
